A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to everyone who took part in Nipponkai's JAPAN DAY event on 11.3.2012 - the 1st Anniversary of The Great East Japan Earthquake. Our thoughts went out to the many victims of the disaster in Tohoku. As you can see from the photos we had a lot happening - musical performances, yukata dressing up, tombola, face painting, tea ceremony, calligraphy, kokeshi doll making, origami, for sale stalls, food stalls, craft sales, a Hina doll & Kabuto display - and Nozomi-chan our 14ft giant kokeshi doll welcoming our visitors !!!
It was good to see so many new faces - many of whom signed up as Nipponkai members. It was so busy at times our committee members didn't get a chance to speak to everyone, but hope everyone had a good time and had an opportunity to see our thriving Japanese community in action. The total raised on the day was £860 !!!
